Our range of courses

The courses are free of charge.

They are aimed at children in Wuppertal who, on the day of the school entrance examination, clearly demonstrate a need for additional support.

Registration with the school management is a prerequisite for participation!

The aim is to prepare the children for school.

Children with and without a migrant background are equally welcome, as are children who do not yet speak German.

During the course, parents are warmly welcome to visit the parents’ café. Over a cup of coffee or tea, they can chat with other parents or guardians and get advice on how to prepare their children for starting school.

The course programme

The children meet twice a week for two hours at a time. The specific days and times are arranged in consultation with the teaching staff. A maximum of eight children are accepted per course. The course is supervised and run by two qualified teaching staff members.

The course runs for two half-years and begins after the summer holidays each year. The course ends before the start of the summer holidays the following year. There are no classes during the holidays.

The educational approach is based on the educational areas and objectives set out in the Children’s Education Act (KiBiz).

The Parents’ Café

Alongside the children’s preparation for school, a parents’ café is organised for parents and carers. In a friendly atmosphere, they can get to know other parents, make new contacts and share experiences. They also receive advice and guidance on how to support their children with everyday school life. Another key focus is on working together to improve language skills.

The parents’ café is facilitated by an educational specialist.
